Mario Rubio and Laney Mog, Staff Excellence Award winners

The University of Colorado Staff Council (UCSC) honored 10 exceptional employees across the CU system with the 2025 Staff Excellence Awards, including two CU Anschutz employees: Mario Rubio and Lanie Mog. The annual awards recognize those who go the extra mile in their job duties and consistently exceed expectations. Each received a $250 award at the April 25 ceremony.

Mario Rubio is a project and transition of care coordinator in the Division of Hospital Medicine. Mario said, “My work focuses on patient discharge planning, cross-departmental collaboration, and securing financial resources for uninsured patients. I have worked extensively with cancer care teams and actively support patients across state lines, ensuring they receive timely and affordable treatment.” When Mario isn’t working, you can find him cooking, baking or watching the Colorado Avalanche.

Lanie Mog is a philanthropic assistant in the Office of Advancement. Lanie is known for “fostering connection and positivity in her workplace—she created the “Friday Feature,” a weekly spotlight that encourages colleagues to share about their lives and interests, and she plays an active role in the Sunshine Committee to help bring joy and support to the team.” When she has free time, Lanie loves to read, write and spend time in nature.

Congratulations to our two wonderful staff members!
